Default Redwoods

my significant other wants to see big redwoods. i'm thinking of flying in to san francisco, renting from eagle rider then heading up towards eureka. looking for suggestions on routes, lodging and timing. we probably have 2 days, maybe 3 at the most. she's good for 200, maybe 250 miles a day. i can get to the eagle rider in san francisco by 12noon. thinking of going within the next 3 weeks. thanks.

The Avenue of the Giants, just off the 101 north of Garberville is amazing. There is also a redwood forest (Grizzly Creek Redwood State Park) east of Fortuna on hwy 36 that was really fun to ride through. In fact, 36 from Red Bluff to Fortuna was a spectacular ride.

Muir Woods National Monument is just north of San Francisco / Golden Gate Bridge and worth a stop. http://www.nps.gov/muwo/index.htm

Get to eaglerider, rent, ride to Muir Woods and check out the Redwoods and that that's a nice first day.......

Just did the Redwoods last month. Why fly half way. Ride there. 101 to Avenue of the Giants to Hwy 199 into Oregon.

Ever thought of renting a bike from Dudley Perkins HD? One of the oldest dealers in the country, they have rental bikes.

Their dealership is practically next to SFO airport, too. Very convenient.

Just got back to Seattle area from Fort Bragg, CA. Went 101 to Levett and on to 1 to Fort Bragg. Did 1800 mi. back through OR and WA. Only had 5 seconds of rain, a little cool (almost cold) for the first couple of days but a good trip otherwise.

If ya only have a couple days? Just head up 101. Ya aren't gonna have a lot of time up there before ya need to head back. But do the Ave of the Giants at least.
