Default Another Summer - another long ride

I hate winter.

I love summer, and the potential for long rides.

This summer we have planned yet another fantastic ride. We're overlapping some of the areas from last summer, and seeing some new spots this summer.

We're leaving South of Vancouver BC, and staying over in Burlington. We're going to continue south and wind up in Newport, and perhaps sample a brew at Rogue.

From there continue down the coast, and maybe stay in Eureka. We have plans to stay over in San Francisco, so we're needing a recommendation on hotels there. See Alcatraz, and ride the Golden Gate. Stop in at Dudley Perkins. Continue south along the coast and see Carmel [Say hi to Clint Eastwood.]

Check out the Bixby bridge and Big Sur. Ride through Malibu...

Take my Daughter to Disneyland once more. Three days there.

Then off to Vegas where my OL will be made an honest woman.

Then we're heading east. We are looking at a New Orleans Visit, and contemplating a return to Margaritaville in Pensacola Beach FLA. Then Up to Milwaukee to the Iron Horse, and find that rivet we bought last year at the 110th.

Might swing through the Black Hills on the way back, and take in Devil's Tower and Beartooth pass.

Should be a long ride. I've bought BR Custom bars, just need em to arrive. I need to do a shakedown ride, and deliver the motorcycle to a frendly US dealership for a hydraulic clutch conversion. [For sihts and giggles... maybe easier on the clutch pull]

I've also bought a Contour+2 to record video and pictures. I'm hoping it's awesome... I can set it to snap a picture every 1, 2, 5, ... 60 seconds. Triptic anyone? As well it has video at 1080P, and a GPS overlay. [Don't look at the speed mom... ha ha].

I like to keep a log and hopefully some video for the long long [hateful] winter.

Any suggestions are appreciated. We're set on San Fran, Disneyland, Vegas and Milwaukee. Everything else is up for grabs. We're contemplating NYC in lieu of Pensacola Beach... Haven't been there yet.

That's a big big ride! Nice! And congrats on making her honest in Vegas!

The ride down the coast will be great hopefully. Very weather dependent. Eureka is a little run down. If possible I would head down the Redwood Highway a bit further and stay at the Benbow in Garberville. I did a Ride report on much of the area you are covering in that region. It might give you some ideas -

Either way - have a great trip! Post pics!

First ride today...

Put the motorcycle back together. Let's see - I did the brakes with Lyndall pads. I changed out the front suspension for progressive lowered mono tubes. Double checked the JRI shocks.

Still eagerly awaiting my br custom handlebars.

I'm gonna get sorted with my contour camera. Should be awesome for vloging.

The motorcycle rides awesome. I gotta find some curvier roads...

There is a drive thru wedding chapel in Vegas (probably more than one). It would be cool to pull up, turn around backwards on the bike (facing your bride) and exchange vows like that.

I hear you - but she's got this planned up the wazoo. Parents are coming etc. I'm glad I get to ride up to the wedding site, and after - ride off with my bride.

The question is moreso where to go and how to get there after the wedding.

We leave the North Rim and she wants to see the rivet we bought last year at the Museum.

I liked Pensacola Beach [Margaritaville] and Memphis would be cool too.

She's back on her motorcycle after a year hiatus, and she's contemplating riding. That means the days need to be a little shorter. She's good up to 400 mi, but after that...

We'll see ho it all shakes out.
