Well, you've got nearly 3 months to plan and I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions.
We've been to GNP four times (I think) and one thing that you definitely need to take is your rain gear and leathers.
On two separate trips we got caught in 42 degree weather in a pouring rain!

You're looking at close to 700 miles from Sturgis, SD to St Mary, MT, or more if you want to take some scenic roads.
Riding solo, you may want to consider staying on the busier roads just in case.

Going through the park, you want to enter the park at the gate near St Mary.

We usually spend a night on the west side of the park, and depending on which way you'll be heading home will determine where you'll want to spend the night.

RT 2, runs E/W just south of the park so if you want to take it, you'll probably want to look for lodging or a campsite somewhere near West Glacier, etc.
Nights can be very cool, so make sure that you have a good warm sleeping bag.

If you're not planning a return trip by RT2, but plan on heading south, I'd recommend Kalispell as a stay over spot, and either RT 93 (or RT 83) south to get down to I-90, or to wherever your butt wants to go.

This is some of the most beautiful scenery in the U.S.

Keep in mind that GNP has a good sized Grizzly Bear population, so be careful when camping.

Whitefish on the west side of GNP is a great little town, not sure about camping though.

If you are bringing a digital camera and would like to have yourself in a couple of pictures, bring along a small portable tripod such as this

I am also leaving Sturgis and headed to Glacier. I am going through Little Big Horn, spend the night in Billings, then do the Lewis & Clark Museum in Great Falls. I am going to spend the first night on the east side, then a couple of nights at West Glacier.

I have considered possibly doing a rafting trip while there. A friend said he went horseback riding while there and it was awesome.

flathead lake is absolutely beutiful , it is south of the park

also, if you have time you could come south out of the park on i think it is 93 and stay south down into idaho before you turn back east, then cut through wyoming

idaho is awsome, i wish we had more time to check it out, we started to turn back eastish around Salmon and spent the night in a tiny town called ledore(maybe spelling is wrong)

actually we were headed to sturgis from San Antonio and when we got to Trinidad, CO just decided to skip Sturgis all together and head to Glacier, we went through western CO like Durango, million dollar highway, up throught Yellowstone to Glacier and back down through Idaho

It was the best trip i can remember

Last year I did Sturgis and Yellowstone, then headed south and did the Million Dollar Highway. This year after Glacier, I am headed down 93 through Idaho, Lolo Pass. Then doing the National Parks in Utah, and then the Grand Canyon.

Did the same thing last year, camped on the west side at Glacier CG on US 2 just down the road from the park entrance, real nice place, $20 a nite. Make some reservations wherever you end up staying.

Leave Sturgis a day or two early, go next year for the 75th all week. Head west, over the big horns, into Yellowstone then do beartooth/chief joseph. then head up to Missoula north to polson. They are right, flat head lake is amazing. Go to Kalispell, THEN TURN WEST! The road from Kalispell to libby to eureka mt is wonderful. Then go east thru glacier. Trust me its worth missing a day or two of Sturgis. Another fun little ride is in the belt mountains south east of Great falls on the way to white sulfur springs.
