flhxkiller has the route pretty much spot on. We rode around L. Michigan last weekend and US31 North is a nice ride. Traverse City, Petoskey, Charlevoix and Harbor Springs are all nice little small towns. Mackinaw City is also worth a stop if you haven't been there and not too busy yet. Tunnel of Trees is a very nice ride right now with everything in bloom. You should have a good ride along the lake on US 2 to Blaney Park. You will be just beyond Tahequamonen Falls on 28, but if interested in backtracking a good place to see. If you continue on 2 into Manistique, just outisde of town is Big Spring/Kitchitkipi, worth the stop if passing bye but wouldn't go out of my way.
Don't expect much at Blaney Park, they have a ride during the day and not much happening....Once the sun goes down it gets a bit more interesting. We elected to head to Minocqua, Wi. this weekend and hit the Summer Thunder Rally. We'll see..
H58 from Grand Marais to Munising is one of the nicest rides you will have in the UP. Lake Superior Brewery in Grand Marais has a selection of hops to wet your whistle and pretty good grub. It will be busy, and you'll need the refreshments while you wait for your food.
As you approach Munising, a few miles past The Bear Trap bar you will see a sign for Miners Castle on the right. Also worth the stop if your into scenic lake overlooks.
One thing, already mentioned but worth it again is we rode H58 just over a week ago. 77 degrees in Marquette and 42 degrees in Grand Marais. Plan for that. The lake is STILL packed with ice from Munising to G. Marais.
You will also be along the shore of L. Superior for 40 more miles from Munising to Marquette which can be cool. MQT to Houghton is, well.....Boring!
If you need anymore info about the area or have any troubles while up here, shoot me a PM. Ride safe and have a great trip!

When on H58, make sure you hit the Bear Trap Inn, (corner of H15) and leave a buck on the wall...

I second M-22. Take it all the way around and up the peninsula. It's a great ride if the weather is good. In fact, I second just about everything said above. Traverse City, Charlevoix, Petoskey - all great places to hang out. Legs is a must do. They have cabins FYI. They also have at least 3 varieties of potato Vodka and the Goulash is excellent. Tunnel of trees is ok - nothing that amazing imo. Watch for deer from dusk till dawn. The bridge is cool. Is Pictured Rocks on your itinerary?

not sure if we will swing into Miners castle or not, we took the boat tour 2 summers ago out of Munising and that was spectacular to say the least......we are taking in some the stuff we have missed in our trips up there like the waterfalls around munising...been to all the Must do and must see looking for the less traveled this time....

Nevada, not sure if you know but Ken was a world travaler at one time I think I can find some pics of him on our first Bike trip to Da Yoop

we never took the boat across so that is one the biggest reason for this trip and the lower mich roads...thanks again you guys are the best....
