I just installed the HD9813 head unit, everything works great. but when I tried to program the thumb controls in the SWC mode nothing worked. I did the factory reset/down powered and still no joy...........Has anyone had this issue? and what fixed it?
Update: I went ahead and de-pinned my handlebar cotrols for the head unit and my issue still remains (volume increases on its own) I am going to start a warranty claim and send it to you guys (Rockfordfosgate). My question is will you send me a replacement once you receive my head unit?

If the volume is changing on it's own, it could be a contact issue in the handlebar cluster, not on the radio side. Have you called Rockford tech support?
As I mentioned earlier I de pinned the volume thumb control left side and mode thumb control on the right totally disconnected from the harness
I saw that.
I have seen this happen a couple times, but it wasn't the radio, it was bad connection in cluster and/or bad wire in the bars... that is all I am saying.
Do you have aftermarket bars?
Any extensions or other connections?
The Rockford radio has a higher sensitivity to the impedance than the stock radio had.
I could be wrong, and it may be a faulty unit, but I do know the radio has a 2 year warranty, so if you just got it, send it in, they should send you a new one.
Do you think that maybe it could possibly be the GAIN on my soundstean amp that could cause this problem? I didnt have any issues at all with my old radio

The gain would not make the volume auto adjust, but you will have to tune differently for the new radio.
There is a resistance issue that the radio is picking up, whether in the harness, contacts or radio. I have seen this where with the bike off, all was good, but as soon as bike was on (vibration) the source side would start jumping from BT to FM to Aux, etc... it ended up being a bad switch. That bike did have extensions (16" bars) but it was the actual switch in the cluster.
I know that you de-pinned it, but maybe cleaning the contacts would be the fix?

While I have evrything apart I plan on going through the harness and doing all that. I even bought new thumb control switches the bike is 17 years old it needs to be done. Man just thinking all this work for a plug and play head unit who would of thought. Thanks for your input Blue.
