Why did my baffle wrap on my Rush muffle last only last 10K miles? Shouldn't it last longer?
Mac
Mac, There are a number of reasons why packing breaks down, one of the most common is an improperly tuned motor. The excessive heat from a poorly tuned motor combined with constant backfires will break the matting down prematurely. Another very common cause is a loosely wrapped baffle this will allow the matting to move much like a wire being bent back and forth until it fatigues and breaks. As for why did your matting only last 10k miles we would have to run an analysis on the remaining section of your matting to help answer this question as each case can be unique. I think it is important to note that we have a large number of mufflers that have been in service for 5yrs and have seen Tens of thousands of miles that are still packed with the original matting. It is also important to know that we stand behind all of our products if you have a problem we will replace the matting at NO CHARGE you do not have to purchase anyone else’s matting. Thanks, Ryan
Hi guys.
Haven't inspected baffles / packing yet. Bought 06 Rk with Rush slip ons.
I am going to assume the packing will need to be replaced. (20k miles). Can i get replacement packing from you. Not sure of baffle size as of yet. 3" outlets. Want to have nre material in hand before taking apart. Can you advise what to order without knowing exactly whatI have. I mean is it material I cut to size? Sorry so vague

Clear packing tape, or masking tape. I prefer the clear tape but they both get the job done. Once you're riding the smell of it burning off will go away quickly.
