Default Rush question

bike : 07 Ultra with PC III and Fuel Moto high flow air cleaner.
I had a Fullsac crossover pipe removal setup done. Basicly they give you
a straight peice of pipe for the front cylinder to hook up to the rear muffler
and a short bent peice for the rear cylinder to hook up with the other side.
So now you have a true dual system. I was using a set of older SE muffles
with a 1999 model number. But doing this did 2 things .....
One it is way too LOUD and it also sounds and runs like crap.
A friend had a set of Rush pipes laying around and let me try them.
Sounds WAY BETTER and runs GREAT !
One problem is that it is some what too loud to ride to work in the City
at 6am in the morning .... LOL ....
My buddy is trying to find the box with the size of the baffle on it.
I tried to measure it from the back and I think they are 2". He thinks
they are the next size bigger. If they are either I would like to try a set of 1.75 baffles.
Before putting them on I tried to take the baffle out to see
how bad the packing was gone but no way in hell were those puppies
comming out. How the heck do you get them out atfter being in for
quite awhile ?Thanks ...
Rob ......

Two tricks work really well. First I would try running the bike for a very short time, just enough to slightly warm up the exhaust but still cool enough to touch. If that doesn't work I would try wd40 or penetrating oil, let it do its magic for a few minutes then try removing. Also, a breaker bar hooked to the cross bar at the end of the baffle is how we get stuck baffles out. Most people have success with the slightly warming of the exhaust suggestions. If you try the first two options and still can't remove the baffle, or if you feel removal will damage the chrome shell, please call and speak with one of our techs.

The 1.75 will work much better at 6am, compared to the 2.25"!

Rob ....
The baffle size is the OD of the spiral core section. Please let me know if those tips helped.

Ryan,
I haven't treid to remove the baffles yet but my buddy found the box.
The part no. is 15301-200 so I know they have 2" baffles.
What is the baffle part no. that I need for a 1.75" baffle ?
I am confused at your web site cus it talks about Series no.'s
Thanks ...

The 15301-200 will be a 15 series. There was a design change with our baffles in 2010 so it is important to determine if your baffles are secured to the shell with one or two bolts. Look on the bottom of the shell, if there is only a bolt near the outlet the part number will be 153412. If there is a bolt at the outlet and also one near the inlet, the part number will be 153412DB.

Ryan,
I finally got them out ! What a P.I.A.
I ended up taking them to a local motorcycle shop that also does auto body work (plus he is my neighbor).
They 1st tried using a slid hammer grabbing the little cross bar inside. It moved only a little bit before BRAKING off.
They then tried banging it off from the other end using a pipe to catch the baffle lip to bang on. They were able to get it out enough
where they could get a cutting wheel thing to make a slot so they could get a hugh slide hammer that they use for auto body.
It got them out but you can see one still ripped all the way through and the other did not have far to go.
Well they are out and I plan on sanding down the insides before putting the 1.75 baffles in ( I haven't bought them yet).
I am running my stock mufflers until I do so. Will the 1.75's come wrapped already ?
Rob .....

I'm really sorry about all the difficulties you had removing the baffles. Usually the tips I provided are enough for the average rider to remove the baffles. The baffles appear to be excessively rusted and barely used. Perhaps they seized to the shell during storage? How does the inside of the shells look, is there a lot of rust?

All replacement baffles come wrapped and ready to install.

YES ! They definatly were excessively rusted and not the fault of Rush.
No telling how they were taken care of by the original owner (i am the 3rd).
I will sand/steel wool the insides before putting new baffles in.
I am liking the quietness of my stock mufflers but they sound like a
quiet outboard motor .... LOL ....
I am going with your recommendation of the 1 3/4" baffles.
Thanks for your help !
