Got the CVO on the road.
It had 1,400 miles on it from just local roads on day rides.
I had forgotten a small bag at a motel there two weeks ago when I was riding US 83 VFW Memorial Highway and a couple other local Nebraska roads. I had told the motel that I would pick it up on the way to Sturgis this week. But, it seemed a good trip to try out the RG.
The hammock seat was as good as any seat I have ridden on. The bike handled rough patches better than my 12 RG CVO. I suspect that there has been some changes in the suspension since then. In the wind rain I was in a nice envelope of calm air(vents were closed).
Mpg was at 42 which is lower than I expected. I haven't unpinned the handle bars yet so they still are too close back for me.
A comfortable 880 mile ride in 13 hours says more about the bike than the 75 year old rider. The 861 miles in 14 hours to Sturgis last year on a Street 750 about did me in.
I understand the stats that RG's rack up more touring miles per year than any other H-D touring model.
My wife thinks that I should divide my rides up into multiple days but I enjoy the challenge. I would rather ride than sitting looking out a window.
