Now that I'm a CVOer, need to decide about oil etc.
Not to upset the list here with this question...
I've already decided on a good full synthetic for the engine (amsoil or syn3), but what are others using for the trans and primary.
Seems the owner's manual talks about formula+ or syn3 for the trans (I'm planning on using formula+ - I like that stuff), but the primary only mentions syn3. Am I restricted to syn3 only for the primary?
Using Mobil 1 in crankcase either 20w-50 or 15w-50. Using Mobil 1 75w-140 in trans. Have not settled on primary but usually use either Formula + or Redline if I'm around a store that carries it. I always use a synthetic in crankcase as it sometimes gets hot around here and traffic jams can be a killer. I've seen oil temps in excess of 280 degrees when in summer stop and go traffic. This twin cooled engine does stay a bit cooler than my old 2011.
Thanks for all the replies. I see everyone using something other than syn3 in primary and trans despite what the manual says. I'll do the same. Gonna use formula+ since I have a bunch in my garage. I'll stick to synthetic 20w50 in the engine.
