I've hauled mine forks compressed & at the fender bolts. Either way worked fine.

I know the driver for the local H-D Dealer. He ties down above the fender bolts around the fork tubes.

Which ever way you chose just be sure as Billman812 suggested: use quality straps. I know of a couple bikes (not mine) that fell over due to broken cheap straps.

side note-
No matter how many times I've strapped and hauled bikes, I still feel compelled to stop after a short ways and double check everything.

You have more options if you use a quality chock.

I like to have 4 straps on two different points to be sure, I also check at regular intervals. I've towed it from NC to RI with forks compressed and it didn't mess a thing.

Yep... my problem is my trailer is too short, I had to cut and weld a 12" trough in the front just so my ramp would close, I have 2" clearance in the back.

I agree. Got a Condor I put in an enclosed 5x8. Almost holds the bike by itself.

Did almost the same trip OBX to upstate NY rigged the same way. Didn't move an inch and everything fine (with a mounted chock).

Without a chock, I would do something like this. Tie down brackets for the front would be a good investment and simplify things.

We use the condor chucks, I use the passenger foot rests as a anchor point pulling forward, i have the Harley front tie down brackets we use for added protection but just snug those, not over tighten

I have driven thousands of miles and hauling butt at 80-90mph and locked the trailer up and not ever an issue. And to each his own but this set up works for me.

Outstanding! You've done what I'd be inclined to do but am reluctant because of control wires that appear would be compressed on one side of the front fork. You don't find that to be a problem?
