CVO engine issues
2012 Street glide CVO 110 build to stage 4 117, with additional head work to open up flow.. upgraded Clutch, Pipes and headers. All good stuff, fast and smooth ,, BUT,,have been unable to tune out a heavy pre iignition knock on load after heats up except by switching to a 100 octane fuel over Cali 91 . A colder plug is our next effort. Know your beast and its burdens. . What say the pro s American Biker Chronicles say colder plug let us know your thoughts
We see the CVO valve springs(manufactured by Comp Cams) to be so aggressive on the surge, (when the inner dampner/inner spring/outer spring all come together) that the lifter axle doesn't stand a chance over the long haul.
That said, we use a progressive wound spring ie "beehive", and ONLY S&S lifters in all of our builds here.
Many times we build the CVO 110" to a 124", using the ported CVO Head, either a 58, or 66mm S&S t/body, and one of the plethora of cams currenlty on the market to suit the wants/needs of the owner.
7, 124" engines being custom here, built as I type.
