Default 2013 CVO ultra classic

Looking at a 2013 CVO ultra classic with 7300 miles, has the Twin Cam 110 engine. What should I be concerned about regarding these engines? I've read about lifters failing, but not 100 % sure it wasn't just the first year 110s. Price is at $20k. I'm currently riding an '05 ultra classic with 95" big bore kit. Any insight/advice would be helpful. Thanks.

That's a good deal on a great bike.

I have one 11k trouble free miles.

I currently have a '13 CVO Ultra with 34,300 miles on the odometer and I just had the valve lifters replaced earlier this year with about 33,000 miles on the odometer, purely as preventative maintenance because of the horror stories.

I also had a 2000 UC (T/C88) and I had the "95" Big Bore kit installed in it somewhere close to 39,000 miles.
That really "woke up" that engine with a lot more torque and perhaps a few more horses but it would not run with the CVO 110 IMHO.

I sold that bike to a guy and he had some head work done, a new S&S EFI system and new cams and it was just a tad lower in HP and Torque than my CVO 110.

That's a great price on the CVO.

2AMGuy do you have any regrets getting rid of the ultra for the CVO? How is the heat on the 110?

I haven't gotten rid of it yet
The wife wants me to keep it so that I can ride with her when she rides her bike (which hasn't happened this year).
I'm not anxious to "give away" one of the nicest bikes that I've ever (or may ever) own so tucking it away up on the lift may be an option, at least until I'm sure that I want to sell it OR that I cannot ride it due to me knee issues.

As for the heat, I don't see/feel too much difference between my 2000 UC (which had a "95" C.I. upgrade) so between the Rinehart XT True Duals (eliminating the catalytic converter, and having it tuned) and the Wards Cooling Fans, heat hasn't been as much of an issue for the bike as it is for me!

I keep the lower fairing doors open most all of the time (except for when it's raining) and I used the H-D Circulator seat and rider backrest cushions and they prevent sweating fairly well. The other thing that can help in reducing rider heat is a using the lowest windshield that you can "live with", or have two windshields (only three screws to change them), one for local rides and one for touring.

Going to look at it tomorrow and see what numbers we can come up with. Still Leary after reading about lifter failures that have happened, but I guess anything can happen at anytime. Thanks for all the info.

I rode a 2013 cvo RG for 5 years before selling it. Trouble free for 30k miles.

If you're that concerned about the lifters (as was I) a new set, installed is around $400 (or so). Perhaps you can toss that in during your "negotiation" of the purchase price of the bike?
