Pepper117: I’m not blaming you. But, trying to better understand this issue. A recent TSB from HD, Indicates sumping occurs at extended hi RPM running. Were you doing this ?

Service bulletin states: "extended periods at high rpm or under heavy engine load". My 17 sumped while in 6th hear at 75mph, going uphill.
never seen a tech take a bike outside and let the pumped oil flow out in the grass
That video wasn’t my bike. My video was the one in the shop with the 2017 CVO Limited. The boiling oil dumping on the grass is Pepper117, a 2019 CVO RG that also sumped and videoed his oil dumping onto the grass. You’ve confused the 2 videos.
Understandable given how many HD M8 bikes have and continue to sump.
Assumed it was the same guy as the OP here just different forum/ID but mileage & poster locations are different, so 2 different 2019 CVO RG’s in red pepper? Man that sucks, probably the nicest looking bike this year, it’d be the one I’d buy, is there a warranty to cover how fooking disappointing & upsetting this must be to these owners. $45k top, top of the line bike 74 miles later blown motor being ripped into by dealership mechanics.....Some might just take this stuff in stride or at least say so,,,admit that ain’t me though but wish I were built like that..
I get if this new cover & seal wasn’t manufactured in time to get it onto the production line in the 2019 bikes but what stops the MoCo from having dealerships install it now before customers pick up their brand new bikes? I mean I know the answer: $ & that means admitting a larger problem + they’re probably not 100% sure it’s going to work but dunno, the whole way they’ve handled this thing stinks.

I hate to keep hearing this problem and definitely feel for all that have been affected.
The "Service Bulletin" makes it real and I do not make light of it.
So far I am VERY lucky I guess. We just clicked over 11k weekend before last coming home from York, PA. For those familiar with I-81 through VA there are some pretty steep inclines. I LOVE them! Nothing like blasting by slow traffic with ease and power still remaining. My wife would glance over my shoulder and I knew why. To see how fast we were running. Once I hit 85 mph, uphill with the two of us and all our gear. So what has kept mine from doing it? We've done 11 states now and I would not hesitate to head out on the bike. We are actually planning a pretty long ride in December if the weather holds okay. That will be around 2500 miles.
Then I think about the demo bikes. Maybe I am the only one but I ran the three bikes I demo'd pretty hard and one only had 368 miles on it. I would think these bikes would be dying pretty quickly.
Really crazy. I hope they get this worked out for ALL soon.
So glad to hear that yours was fixed by HD. Could you keep us posted over the next few thousand miles?
Also, would you mind if I ask you when your bike was built? There was a talk of new parts from late-August 2018. Although your bikes issue was missing gasket, it might be helpful to keep a track of build dates.
Enjoy your ride!
Well I decided to take the chance and bring it to my Tail Of The Dragon trip. So far so good. Ive put 1300 miles since repair. However my nephew who got his a week after me on Mako Shark sumpted fort the first time with 1300 miles. I will update as thing progress
