Default Lifters

Been contemplating changing out the lifters in my 2016 CVO roadglide. Just called Harley Davidson customer service to see if they could tell me which lifters are in my engine? They claim that my bike does indeed have the newer version SE lifter that came out in 2013.

They still sux!

The SE "B" Lifters were the best from the MoCo. IIRC, somewhere around 2011ish the MoCo came out with the "C" lifters which caused more lifter failure.

IF you can use aftermarket Lifters. ESP Warranty, keep using SE.

No warranty left. I already have a set of S and S premium lifters to install just trying to decide which pushrods to order?

My 2013 Ultra CVO (79,4XX miles) is in the shop right now for 3 failed lifters. The only thing done to the MC is a 2 into 1 dragos exhaust and a power vision tuner from fuelmoto. It started making noises that I thought were in the primary and when I took it to the dealer the voltage went to 10 vdc and idiot lights were on. I thought the stator went out so I thought it was a simple fix. The ESP rep said the heads were good so a total replacement sans heads. compression 165 and 175 psi and leak down on both cylinders at 15%. Of course the metal parts going thru the engine was what killed the rest of it. I am a poster child for ESP; heated seat went out, fork seal leak, 2 rear tires, 1 front tire, front brake switch, and stator previously went out. I'll post everything in a new thread when I get the MC back.

This issue with the 110 CVO engines is the excessively and unnecessarily high valve seat pressure and dual spring set up that is way overkill and puts massive strain on the entire valve train, but especially on the lifters. This is what causes the failure, not that they are poor quality lifters. Although if I were changing them I would and do use S&S premium units.
A knowledgeable Dealership or Indy should be able to retrofit or replace with lower tension aftermarket valve springs (Beehive style) that will both work well and extend lifter life enormously.
