Default Today's decision point

OK, I'll try to keep this short, but a bit of background may help you help me:

First new bike in over 30 years was a 2019 Indian Scout - fun and all, but I like to ride long ways and all around the Northeast Kingdom here - rented a Chieftain for a weekend and fell in love with the stereo, cruise, and plush ride & larger tank.

Decided I needed a second larger bike - before I just stayed with Indian I rode the 2019 Street Glide special. SOLD, no comparison for me. It handled better, engine was just right and more powerful, and the position and height all felt way better. Not to mention the ride was SO much better. I didn't even know I had gotten to 80 on the test ride - on the Chieftain there was no way to NOT know you hit 80...

So today I got the credit approval, have a sizable downpayment. Here is the catch! as I was picking out somethings out to add to the SG special the owner started talking about other bikes that weren't much more after I added the shiny bits to the other one.... typical upsale, but he was/is right. I walked out without buying anything mainly because I saw a 2019 CVO in gray on silver that was great. So many nice things on it over the special that I was almost ready to get it yesterday.

Thing is I could get the special for around $28k, but the CVO Street Glide is $38k !! $10k is a lot of change. Is a CVO really worth that to a guy who never owned more than a HD sportster 1000 Sporty 883 and some old sport bikes?

I love picking out new parts to add to the bike - though my ability to do work myself and space at home is limited, and there are things on the CVO that I wouldn't / couldn't do (locking bags, heated grips, stereo, 117 etc...)

Can't decide. I was hedging about even getting the Special! now I am thinking CVO? hows the price sound? thanks all

I may be a bit salty, but here it goes. Don't waste your money on a CVO. Superfiical crap for the most part with a big price tag.

If you want a great second bike, try a beemer or a goldwing, you'll get way more for your money.

That bike is NOT worth that much money.

Only downfall to the cvo is once you own one you'll never want to go back to a standard bike again. Look at it this way...say the cvo is a hot girl...a 10 and after dating her for a while do you think you'll want to date a girl who's really nice and does pretty much everything the 10 does but she's only a 5? Hell no you won't. If you can afford the cvo, which does seem like a decent price , go for it. You only get one ride on the big spinning rock so make it a good one.

i felt the same way. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a 2019 CVO Street Glide. Way over priced in my book. Then when you ride it you think what took me so long. I didnt realize scooters could be so nice. Granted i have been on HDs since the 80s before that it was Kawasaki. Had a buddy i hadnt spoken tp since like 70 in boot camp. Talked to him on a Tuesday he died on Wed. The following week i bought the bike. Decided hey i might croak before i have to pay for it. Lifes to short. Do it if thats what you want! Ride safe and enjoy!

You will not be able to buy a SGS and add everything a CVO has for $10k. There are a lot of little things on a CVO you don’t need, but once you have them you’ll always want them. I had a ‘17 CVO limited and traded for a ‘18 RGS. I wanted a RG and thought I wouldn’t miss the little things, like power locks. Not true, three and a half months later I was back on a CVO ‘19 RG. You mentioned $38k for the CVO SG. I would normally say you could get a better deal on a left over model year bike but the one you are looking at looks much better than any of the 2020 CVOs, imo.

To the OP...let's be realistic. It would not be easy for someone to throw down 30 or 40 large on a bike and then admit they paid for garbage. The 'awesome ' boom audio is about the crappiest audio system available. Painted plastic and fake leather. The screaming eagle upgrade? Lol...new tailpipes and an air intake....ooooohhhh....baller!!! Under the cheap tinny crap is a glorified lawn mower engine and 20 year old technology. Read up on the CVO history. It's for the 'Alpha' harley enthusiasts. Lol...wtf does that even mean? Don't get sucked in. Trust me from experience. It's all bullshit.

The CVO is nice and if you plan to keep her 3-4 years than get the CVO if not get the SG Special. And do not add a ton of stuff to the Special since you will never get back your investment. And or if your gonna keep the Special many years and you want to personalize her then fine. The 117 motor is sweet and I have both so I know.

I dont ever say anything to trolls or haters. But why even come on the site when you cant stand the bikes. Go ride your honda or whatever. Stay safe. At least you are riding i think!

You can spend all the money you want to make a CVO but the title still doesnt say CVO.

Get what you want and can afford. Life is to short. Don’t go in debt for a hobby. JMO.
