early 110's had issues, apparently the later units were corrected but dont quote me on that, namely valve guides dropping, and more so crank r/u issues causing a sh*t load of problems

my 08 chewed up a pair of valve guides this summer, hairline cracks and shattered ends, which turned out for the best cause i dug into the motor and at .006 cam chest and .007 comp im at service limits, obviously not HDs limits, mine, so i put it back together and im rebuilding soon but most likely dumping mid 4 digit numbers into a zippers build considering i have a B frame, solid mounted engine

Zippers 110 extreme kit, 150/150, looks promising doesnt it???????

2013 CVO Ultra, at 57,000 km's dropped a valve guide so they replaced both heads and when checking cylinders found them to be ovalized so new cylinders pistons and lifters were replaced. At 87,000 km's started hearing some strange noises like a rattle, upon inspection found the lifter bores scored so they replaced everything below the heads. Heads were sent out by the dealer to be modified by installing new bronze guides, bee hive springs high low exhaust valve seats and a mild porting. Motor sounds a lot different from original and seems stronger. I've only got 1500 km's on it since the rebuild but alls good, I will get it re dynoed in the spring all work done under ESP including compensator, 6th gear bearing and a new rear tire.

There's alot that can be fixed...with alot of money of course. Let us know what is going on with it.

SB What exactly went on your crank ? I had one go at about 27,000 miles. Looked like the crank pin started to fall apart. Mine was a 2012 CVO Road Glide, and yours was a ?

Hey Johnnie...sorry I never replied to your question about 2 years ago...lol...my wife says never pay attention to her either. My bike started to make a "squeak " or "chirp" sound. I gradually over about a week or so turned into the dreaded lower end knock noise. My runout had jumped from .003 to .0045. So I knew I was taking it apart. Found the big end bearing on one rod was sticky in two spots. Sent that crank to darkhorse for a rebuild. After their inspection it would have been almost as much to fix mine as was to buy a new man o war crank. Andrew and John were great to deal with. Answered all of my questions and had a fast turnaround time. My only bit of regret was not taking the time and spending the money to bore the cases and do the Timken conversion too. But it was still prime riding time and I just didn't have the extra money laying around to put into the bike. Its still a 110 with hillside heads and cams ...runs good for a little 110". The bike is so smooth now, about 2800 rpm and up its real nice...perfect cruising range.
