Yes. I had a '16 FLTRUSE. Pulling up to events and parking next to a bike exactly like mine didn't sit well with me. Now I have 2 bikes that people seem to circle and ask questions about. Especially my '07 VRSCDX. Probably wouldn't buy another CVO, it's just not for me.
I’ve gone from CVO to non CVO, back to CVO, back to non CVO several times. For me it’s really not a big deal, I buy the bike I want CVO or not and then make it my own.
Currently on a 2020 RGL but will be trading for a 2022 RGS or CVO RG. Will decide once the CVOs are released on the 26th.
I got hooked on Cvo’s back in 2003, thought the anniversary cvo road king was one of the best looking harleys I’d ever seen. Since then, it’s been mostly cvo’s, has to have the stuff that makes it really special. Since then I’ve owned 2005 flhtcuse, a 2007 flhrse, a 2010 flhxse, a 2013 fltrse, a 2016 flhxse, a 2017 flhtkse and currently own a 2021 flhtkse. On each of them, it really was the paint scheme that got me. On the other hand, I also own a 2019 road glide special that I really like.
I would have no problem picking up a standard or special of some sort IF I were in the market for a new Harley.
Spoiler alert: The CVO line up for the past 7 or 8 years is not what it used to be. Not bashing anyone who owns new CVO's as I will say I really liked the 2018 & 2019 CVO Road Glides.
All CVO are assembled on the same line as all the other motorcycles.
So, what's special about them? Extra jewelry and sub-par paint job with no fancy designed for only $20k more?
Best value out there is the Limited models in my opinion.
But what do I know as I still have my old-azz 2009 CVO Road Glide Twin Cam Built motor?
So far other than my Pan America I have only bought CVO's since 09. I have had the 09 CVORG, 12 CVORG, 13 CVORK, 15 CVORGU, 17 CVOSG, 18 CVORG and the 19 CVORG. Until Sept there were always two CVO in the garage.
Yes, I would by a non-CVO now. There is less and less since 13 to set the CVO aside from the regular bike. They keep removing the stuff from the CVO. 2009 was the last year the CVO was built on its own separate line, by two people.
At this point the Harley touring bike is very outdated. This is the 14th year using the same old frame with crappy suspension. Every Touring bike out there has better suspension and handling.
I have two CVOs and don't see myself ever buying a non CVO... That said lots of nice bikes made before the first CVO was ever built, and Harley keeps "value adding" or as I call it dumming down the CVO line... And why don't they make non touring CVOs... I think theres a market for an all out $70k bike, one that you cannot build with off the shelf parts to transform a special CVO twin.
As much as people customize with parts being what they are nearly all the bikes look the same unless you get a true fabricator to build you a bike...
