hi,i am looking into changing the cam in my 2007 fxdse 110.the harley dealer where i purchased the bike is recomending the SE 211 cam.has anyone done a cam change with the 110?looking for more power that is streatable.any suggestion would be appreciated.thanks
" Bolt in" cam or are you prepared to do extensive headwork, or go to different heads? If you want a bolt in, there are better alternatives, IMO, than anything HD has to offer. If there are warranty issues, and you want to go with HD parts for that reason, need to know what you're after and what you're willing to do to the top end of the engine to get there. Most HD cams need more compression to run.
I agree with blueslover, the best upgrade to do is the heads. I saw a dyno of a 110 with SE251 cams that did pretty well. I think it was over at CVOHARLEY.com. Apparently a big motor like 110 can get away with using a long duration cam with lower compression. The 251 is not a bolt in cam, recommend better valve springs and check valve to piston clearance. The 211 cam is similar to the 251 and might do ok. I'd be interested to see what an andrews 44 would do.
i really didnt have any plans on doing anything other then bolting in a different cam.i think 110 motors come with 9.3 compression.. se 110 heads are supposed to be a upgrade over stock heads.so i would like to put in a cam that will make more toque and hp over the cam that harley comes with. i believe the cam from se 110 engine is the se 255 cam(fairly small) i feel. what is 44 andrews cams??
andrews 44 is a bolt-in cam that's a little smaller than SE211. The andrews 44 would make torque at lower rpm than the SE211, and probably still pull all the way to redline
211 is not too big, but it likes around 10.25 or so compression and you only have 9.3. Of course 110" motor will be more forgiving of low compression than a smaller motor would be. Andrews 44 specs:
intake- opens at 21, closes at 41, 242 duration, .495 lift
exhaust- opens at 49, closes at 17, 246 duration, .495 lift
Go to www.latus-hd.com and ask mike what he thinks. I like the andrews cams myself. YOu need to deceide where you want the cams to come in at, meaning the Rpm's. And if yer riding 2 up or what.
