Default SE ULTRA

I know the SE Ultra comes with satellite radio and navigation. But is it a true navigation system based on satellites or is it disc driven? I know it has dics ,but can you take them out,get nav readings from the satellites and listen to aCD while you navigate? THANKS GUYS.

You only need the disk in for it to calculate a route, then you can take it out. It's not ideal, but it works.

You do have to install the module for bluetooth correct?

Ok, now I'm confused. Bluetooth? I didn't know they had a bluetooth module. I don't use it much because I like my Garmin better, but when I've played with it, I just plug in an address or something and then it asks for the appropriate disk. I put in the disk, it calculates the route and downloads what it needs for that route and then you can take it out and put in a music CD.

Blue tooth is for the telephone hook-up if you have a bluetooth phone. I was just asking if the SE Ultra also came with that which I am pretty sure it does not. HD charges $499.00 for the module. I have a friend with an 07 ultra and he had the bluetooth installed. I was just wondering if the SE Ultra came with it sice it has both the satellite radio and the nav unit. The satellite radio for a regular ulktra is $499.95 and $1195.00 for the nav.

Gotcha and would be great. I'm pretty sure it does not come standard, at least for 08. If it was active, my phone would have tried to pair with it. I did a quick search on the HD site and couldn't find a part number for the BT module, but you definitely got my interest.

P/N IS 76408-06. There is a description on page 495 of the parts and accessories catalogue. My friend says it works great. I have called while he was on the bike and there was no reception problems.

The navigation is a GPS. As Labrat said, you just need the disk to calculate routes, but it is true GPS. It works pretty well, however it isn't the best around town, longer trips it works well. Don't need anything else to make it work. Hope that helps. [/align]

The XM module works fine, but works better with the XM antenna mounted on the dash or somewhere outside the fairing. From reports I've read, the Bluetooth works well too. Save a bunch of money, and don't bother with the GPS module. Get a bluetooth in your helmet and pair with the Garmin units listed below.

Get a Zumo 550 or Garmin 2820...it has capability of Bluetooth, great navigation,MP3, and XM. Run the output from either of the Garmin units to the AUX in on the front of the radio...get verbal directions through the speakers or headset, MP3, and XM.

The HD GPS is OK in a pinch, but any of the Garmin units FAR exceed it....HD unit is hard to see, gives only turns without maps, etc. It's just not worth the money, period.
