It seems that I'm the only happy owner of a SE Ultra on this forum. I bought my used 2007 FLHTCUSE2 in October and so far I like it more each time I ride it. I traded in my 2001 Road King with 40K miles and got what I consider a good deal from the local dealer. So far, I haven't had any of the problems with the bike that I've read about on this forum. I currently have 8,800 miles on it. The only mods I have installed are the IDS, J&M antennaes, chrome fairing trim and headlight and passing light trim rings. I don't even have the gap on the headlight trim ring I've read about. Sorry for those who have had problems, but I just wanted to let everybody know that there is at least one happy SE Ultra owner out there.
My 07 SEU has served me nicely for 12,000 mion several long trips and daily riding with nary a problem, Im guessing that there are many CVO's that are running properly, those that have a problem bike are usually far more vocal about their misfortune, deservedly so,I know I sure would be.
? Thinking about buying a '07 SE Ultra. Other than all the extras, is there a huge differenceon the 'ride' betweenyour old Road King
and your new SE?
Thanks BlkPrl44
The only difference I noticed is the seating position. The Ultra puts you in a more upright position, escpecially with the backrest in place. After getting used to it, I like it and I don't have the backaches I used to get with the RK. I'm 6-feet tall with kind of long arms and legs, but the Ultra fits me nicely. As far as the ride, I think they may be about the same with a little less wind hitting you with the Ultra. I can honestly say that I was suprised that the Ultra handled as easily in slow manuevers as the RK. And most importantly, I love riding with music. The miles really melt away with the radio/CD playing. I would highly recommend subscribing to XM radio as well, especially if you do a lot of long distance riding.
Just my thoughts, hope they help in your decision. I fought the same battle when I was looking at the Ultra, having ridden the RK for five years. But after riding the Ultra for three months, I know I made the right decision to go with it. BTW, the wife likes it better than the RK and that helps too.
Thanks! Puts me a step closer to buying another Ultra. Still like the looks and feel of the '08 RK. Wife only rides around 1,000 mi/yr.
I sold my '06 Ultra to buy the new 6 sp/96. Still have an '03 Heritage which I'm going to sell. Difficult decision because I do most of
the riding and not sure I really needan Ultra.
Lovin' my 07 CVO Ultra. Bought new in Sept 06, have 8000 miles and nary a problem. Switched from a 01 RK with 12" apes and 95" stroker. Miss the low end torque and ride, but what the ???.
