I have a 2007 Softail Heritage and a FXDSE2 with a Stripper seat and \\;I can ride it 3-4 hours in complete comfort... the ride is outstanding, cornering and tight turns the best of any bike I have owned over the past 25 years, fast as a can be, responsive and absolutely a hot bike for looks...it is a perfect 50 on a scale of 1-10 in my book...FXDSE2
I added a small HD windshield and a HD Stripper seat...seat is great, small windshield basically useless but comes off in 10 seconds. \\; No engine guard added because the ferring would have to be removed...Actually got used to the Wind In Your Face at 80-90 mph (as long as \\;I carry dental floss for the bugs). \\; Peformance and fun factor off the scale. \\; Rain just plain sucks. Missed a hail storm by 90 seconds...can't even concieve!!! FXDSE2
Usually when I get out for the day just to ride I clock up around 200 to 250 miles, the stock seat had to go, I went with the Reach seat, but it is not much more comfortable than the stock, thinking about a mustang seal, possibly a solo seat.
I agree with most of the above. I also have a modified HD Brawler seat and detach windshield. The windshield keeps wind off the upper torso but I still need a full face for the long haul.
I use a small rack from Motherwells and it'll take an overnight bag but my sig other carries most of our gear on his Ultra.
I traded in an '05 road king for my '08 screamin' eagle dyna...some days I miss the road king, but the added performance of the dyna is great...I've added a mustang solo seat with rider backrest, moved the passenger pegs to the mid-mounts (it really helps to have another place to put my feet), solo luggage rack, and the h-d mini windsield ( still get a lot of buffeting at highway speeds)...I'm 5'-9" and had to lean forward too much to reach the handlebars and the rider backrest pushes me forward enough so I'm comfortable...I've ridden 400 miles in a day since the upgrades and its not bad
