Default REV Limiter

My 2008 FXDSE2 is programmed to cut out right at 6,000 rpm, the start of the red line. I know it can be programmed at any level...my mechanic said he sets his at 5500-5800. Is there real harm in bringing it into the red line...say 7,000. I realize that the FXDSE2 is torque heavy in the low range and it is really not needed but I was surprised to have it cut out on me this past week whrn I had it opened up on the highway. FXDSE2

I do not understand why yours is at 6000 rpm and mine is at 6500 rpm, maybe it is an oversight between one of us, I dunno, I was told by the dealer that I use that mine was set at 6500, and I have hit it a couple of times, not intentional but never the less. from what I have seen on my tach, it confirms what the dealer shop has stated, Besides on mine after about 4800 rpm it is not really pulling as hard anymore, I don't know where your peak torque is at, looking at the dyno sheet on mine it is close to the 4800 that I can physically notice the peak torque.
