The first of two emissions phases begin in 2012 so I would think HD will have to be on top of it. Some 50+ % of HD sales are exports.

Quote:
Back in June of 2007, the powers-that-be in Europe officially introduced EURO 5 emissions regulations , and these standards are being phased into effect this year and next. Two-wheeled vehicles, such as mopeds, scooters and motorcycles, were not included in these requirements. As of today, all cycles sold in Europe must meet the less-stringent EURO 3 standards. That's all set to change, as the European Commission and the Association des Constructeurs Europeens de Motocycles (ACEM) has issued a proposal to the motorcycle industry that would slowly migrate cycles through the EURO 4 requirements in 2012 and up to EURO 5 in 2015.

According to the ACEM, moving from EURO 3 to EURO 5 will reduce overall motorcycle emissions by around 50 percent. EURO 5 standards for motorcycles would match those of passenger cars. These proposals would cover the motorcycle industry through 2020, at which point it is presumed that even more stringent regulations would be drafted.

I've been riding Motorcycle since 64, if I waited for a new year HD to come out and the bikes was Water Cooled. I would be super upset.
If I was a killionaire I wouldn't want a Water Cooled motorcycle.Water cooled motorcycles puts off a super lot of heat. Thats why bikes like the goldwing has so much plastic to cover the motor. Take the plastic off and you never felt hot.

And I know you haven't heard about the water cooled motorcycle problems either.

give me a break, harley has only made one mistake...building one water cooled bike. suzuki made a 3 cylinder water-cooled bike in 1972, that was 39 years ago! 2012 will be more of the same ol' crap. since the world will end 12-21-12, harley will never have to build a competive bike in their whole life.

I'm thinking the 2012 might have heated seats and grips. Don't know what else they can do. Except beef up the engine.

If anybody workin for Harley leaks out any information about the 2012 it will cost them their job on the SPOT.
Only the Ultra Limited and the SE Ultra have heated grips from what I remember.
Got a buddy with a 2010 SE SG and it don't have the heated grips. It has internally wired handle bars and HD said they don't have a heated handgrip for it.
So you need to think about this if you buy a Street Glide.
I got heated handgrips on my 2011 Limited and I kinda like them. Been using them a lot this year.

And I've sat on a SE SG seat. Like my buddy they are junk and so uncomfortable you have to take them off. Heated or not.
The folks at HD surely must not ride these bikes any farther than a bar.
Don't know why they put heated anything in the seats . About every stock seat is junk.
Its a insult to a everyday rider.
And with the heat a water cooled bike puts off and the problems with a radiator, I hope HD don't relaese any more model water cooled engines.
I don't want one. It would be more problems than I care to deal with.
HD has been very slow to come out with Bigger engines. They want to Milk everybody with small improvments every year.
