Default Engine Problems???

A buddy of mine has a 2009 CVO Ultra with an engine noise, it is a chirping sound that gets louder as the bike heats up. The dealer has pulled the primary apart and said the problem was with the clutch...after that was replaced still the same. They pulled off all covers, heat shields ect. that could be making noise and the problem still exists. I listened to the noise with a stethiscope and it is loudest at the top screw on the cam cover. Has anyone ever had or heard of such a problem. Please help!!!

I could be way off here but if it is a chirpy squeal, it sounds like one of the cams rear needle bearings is suffering from a lack of oil to lubricate it or it is possible defective. They have a funny chirp/squeal that has a different sound than a bad ball bearing. That's not good, better have it looked at. HTH, Bob

I'm leaning towards the cam bearings, sure sounds like the noise is coming from under the cam cover, when I put the electronic stethescope on it.
Thanks for the advice!

Roller rockers & roller lifters can sometimes make a noise like that also. Does he have either of those in the top end? Bob

It does have roller lifters... could be something to look at. The dealer is finally pulling things apart today. I will post as soon as we have a diagnosis.

So with the cam wiped out, was there metal material, ie. shavings that flowed through-out the rest of the motor? What repairs are they going to provide?
