Thoughts on '03 SE road king?
I like the versatility of a Road King for one thing. Easy Full Tour Pak On/Off or SissyBar and Rack On/Off on nothing on the back.
Hoppe Fairing makes a VanillaZilla that just goes On/Off like the windscreen does.
And the SE103 has been flawless
OK, all I have done so far.
Installed the Upgrade Billet CAM Plate with New CAM tensioners and 125% Oil Pump.
Installed Auto tensioner for Primary Chain
SE Stage 1 AC
Installed PC III and had Dyno Tune.
90 Tq and 89Hp.
Progressive MonoTube Cartridge Lit Fron and Progressiive 440s rear.
Next Phase - This Summer
Doherty Power PACC
Supertrapp True Duals
SuperTrapp Stout 4" Slip-Ons
Fresh Dyno Tune
Final Step - This Winter - Dave Mackie Engeneering Mega-Sphere Package.
DR
It came with a king tour-pack, which I rarely use (but love having for occasional road trips). I ditched the CVO-style windscreen and use a regular-sized LRS one, which makes it much more comfortable. I added the passing lamps, just to increase the visibility of the bike from the front. Also added a BAL taillight.
Mine doesn't have any miles to speak of, but has been as solid as a rock. There should be NO issues with replacement parts. The 103 has plenty of power & its a very comfortable bike.
Personally, I love the CVO styling of the '03 bike much more than other years. The center console is very 'art deco' and I like the bar-mounted tach and the 100th anniversary emblem (Its nice to have it on the engine too)! I never did like the standard RK fender lights and all that bumper and trim crap they have, so the clean fender looks much better IMHO.
I've had people stop me and compliment the bike many times. One guy went on & on about it, and even had to take a picture of his little girl standing next to it, like it was some sort of a rock-star! I think he liked it even more than I do! haha!
