I have an 07 SE Ultra. At the 1000 mile check an oil leak was detected at the base of, and in between the cylinders. After retorking all bolts and another 500 miles put on the bike, it was determined to pull the cylinders, replace the o-rings, etc. Another 200 miles, still leaking. HD tech suggested case sealer on the bolt that goes horizantally through the case. Another 100 miles and still leaking. My dealer is talking new engine...suggesting a machining error or perhaps a case perocity issue. Any ideas and is anyone having a similar problem?
Thanks for all of the advice....The bike has been sitting at my dealership for five days and not a wrench has been put on it. I am calling HD as we speak.
My bike is completly stock....haven't done anything to it yet...just in case I had a problem like I have had. Didn't want to give them an excuse not to warranty any problems. The badge is fine...no heating problems. My engine is completely torn down for the fourth time, as we speak. They have decided to put a new front cylinder on it to see if the cylinder is the problem. My dealer has assured me that this is the last time they will tear it down. After this, if it still leaks they are going to request a new engine. I have told them that I want a new engine anyway....I didn't pay nearly 40k for a bike that has been totally disassembled four times.
digger1, feel your pain. My bike was torn apart to replace the main wiring harness. It's like its virginity is been voilated and doesn't feel like a new bike any longer. If it leaks again, would go with the guy who said you should look into gettting the MoCo to replace the bike.
Got my bike back this afternoon. Dealership installed new cylinder and ran on dyno for 40 miles with no leak. Weather in South Texas prevented me from putting any miles on it but it is supposed to be nice tomorrow. Dealership has assured me this is the last time it will be town down....they will request a new engine if it is still leaking. Will find out tomorrow. Will let u guys know tomorrow night.
