Default What do you do about heat?

Hey guys. I don't normally wander in here because frankly, you're all way above my pay grade.

But I have a question that you guys should be able to answer. With as hot as my '14 RK gets with it's 103, I can imagine how hot a 110" motor gets. What do you guys do to combat all that heat without making major modifications and spending a bunch more money than you've already spent?

Head cooler fans (Ward`s) and oil coolers. Yeah, they`re mods, but not really too expensive. `Sure beats cooked oil.

Reality is you want to get rid of cat in head pipe and richen up the fuel mixture.
Suggest you remove the cat from the headpipe or spend a few bucks and get a catless header. If you want to keep stock look, consider Fullsac or Fuel Moto headers that re-use stock heatshields.
Fullsac also offers replacement baffles for stock mufflers. Good low cost way to upgrade exhaust.
To richen fuel mixture you will need a tuner. Both Fullsac and Fuel Moto sells them and will load you up a canned map that should be pretty close in order to save you the cost of a dyno tune. It's a canned map, but they both have a good library of maps if you are using a set-up they dynotuned a bike for.

Cooling fans are great, but best bang is to get rid of the lean fuel mixture set at the factory to pass emissions

Good to hear this info as this 110 motor start's making a strange idling sound and has a different vibration at the stop lights when you start hitting some red lights. Almost feels like a cylinder shuts down to reduce heat. Only have a 150 miles on as I just got it and i'm going through the brake in process on it. So not sure if this is normal or not.

A good tune by a reputable tuner will tame that heat remarkably.

The back cylinder does shut down when it gets too hot. It goes in to PARADE mode to keep the rear cylinder from overheating. As soon as you take off it kicks back in and works like normal.

normal, rear cylinder shuts off to help reduce heat. read your owners manual, there is a way you can set programming to either keep feature working or disable it. doesn't hurt anything , just sounds funny (embarrassing!) at the lights. cylinder fires back up upon applying throttle

Thanks to all.I'll have to read up on what this bike will do. I will most likely do some mods after I hit about 3k miles just to make sure I don't void any warranty while breaking the drivetrain in.

But your engine sounding "weird" in stop and go is the one cylinder cutting out to pump air. Should be a discussion of that feature in your owner manual.
Thanks for the info!
