Hey guys, I am seconds away from pulling the trigger on a '14 CVO Road King. I've read some good and bad stuff about them, and would love to hear from anyone that had a few miles on one to let me know how you like your ride. I'm going from an '09 Heritage, so I am really expecting this to be a true, all around upgrade. Especially for the price!!!
Well i went from a 2012 Fatboy Lo to a 2014 CVO King. I love it! The bike gets compliments and conversations all the time. If you can handle the attention good luck. Im not much of a social butterfly so i dont really care! The bike rides amazingly smooth. Even when i took it for a ride on demo day at the dealer before i bought it all the guys that tested it said it was the smoothest factory Harley they ever rode! I love the stretched hard bags they have plenty of room for storage and easy to open and close with the new system. The shocks are adjustable so make sure you set them to the setting you want. The dealer had my shocks set at the lowest setting and i had to turn them up 10 settings for my wife and i. I love the blacked out look so the blacked out power train is awsome and it has just enough chrome to make the bike pop! I will say this the paint is really good quality. I had a machine going down the road sling up a huge rock 2 days ago and it slammed into my front end and all that was there when i got home and cleaned it up is a tiny scuff the size of an eraser head maybe smaller. No chip! I was shocked! I say pull the trigger you will not regret it!
Thanks! What is the power and sound like out of the box? I have a a fair bit of work done to my softy and don't want to have to go through all that again. I'm hoping just slip-ons. What is 6th gear like?

Tons of Power!!! Sound sucks..lol But i installed a set of RCX Components rival slip ons $500 Bucks, and sounds 10x better! Did not remove the cat or do a tune both the Dealer that i bought them from and my HD dealer said as long as you just do slip ons you dont need a tune. Even tho the bike comes with the Screaming eagle high flow air cleaner the CVO king comes with a richer tune from the factory they told me because of the stock performance parts that are already on it! But if you remove the cat or go full exhaust then you will still need a tune! I hardly ever use 6th gear unless im doing over 70 on the interstate which i rarely do.. Love the dash and the Led lights. Headlamp is bright as hell..
Have the same CVO. Bought it in early May. Have 475 miles on it. I have put on Vance & Hines Power Duels and V&H Hi Output slip on mufflers. Great sound and power.
Came from an 07 Heritage, to a CVO RK, Love the bike, I also put on Slip Ons, V&H. HD in the UK told me I had to have it staged 1, so did. Power is amazing, pulls like a train
Thanks guys! I'll be looking for some slipons pretty soon myself I'm sure, but I'd like to ride it a little before I decide what way to go. I CAN'T WAIT to get this bike! I'm hoping to have it by the end of this week... How is the stock seat for long days in the saddle? I can do an easy 600 miles on my Heritage stock seat, and really hope this one is good for the same. Also and feedback from passengers? I have to say that my only reservation about buying this bike is that I put a lot of miles on considering the short riding season here in Canada, and need a bike that can keep up! I also do a lot of 2up riding. But if my butt likes it, then I really can't ask for much more then what this bike comes stock with. Lots of show, lots of go, and not a million upgrades and mods to do to get it there.
There are loads who have issues with the stock bars and seat. I have done 300-400 miles in a day and had no issues. The passenger pad is a little sparse, haven't done any long trips with the other half yet. Considering buying an air hawk passenger pad, just in case. I had the touring pillion on my Heritage and the wife found that comfortable, but the RK seat is a little smaller.
