1967 Electra glide

Put in a new solenoid & bike not starting. Just a high pitch wine. Like not engaging. Any help?

most likely the starter bendix gear, it is a ball ramp type gear and when it skips they give off a screch kind of sound and they do not turn the engine over

Starter solenoid 1967 Electra glide

So do I pull off the solenoid & jiggle it or do I have to remove the primary cover.

You need to remove the primary cover, and pull the starter shaft to replace the Bendix gear.

When you are fiddling around in that solenoid/starter gear linkage area, the first thing is to disconnect the battery. I disconnect the positive battery cable at the battery.

Thanks for all the input guys! I removed the primary cover, put the bendix gear back in place, (it popped out), replaced primary cover and back on the road!!
