Oil
My shovel runs 200+ deg. with Ultima 60 dino up here in Ontario Canada in the summer months most of the time and I hear 250 deg. is the upper limit for those oils. Will synthetics stay, dare I say "thicker", and how much thicker in heat?

the war you speek of its because mobil lost a law suit to castrol - today they can blend anything into oil and or use 1 /2 of one percent or less and call it a syn blend like its 50 percent - its official name is dyster stock 3 it is nothing more then a new way to refine older tyoe oil and then you can call it syn
60 W ultima dyno oil has an ample supply of zinc - most syn oil does not - now mobil 15 / 50 syn does as well as their 10 / 40 syn oil - zinc has been found to screw with the cats on cars so its all but gone today
i only use it in the restore high dollar collectables we restore and or sell as i have 50 - 60 and the 70 in stock and use it in shovels - pans - knuckels - flatheads - ironheads - and the earlier J series motorbikes -
if you put an oil cooler on your bike it will drop 20 / 30 deg in oil temps / then in the fall put a cover over the cooler but when we asked we were told the oil max working temp was 325 and you can fry an egg if its that hot
