Question Primary suprise

I pulled my primary on my 83 flh to change gasket and i found 2 small brass rivit looking things in the primary any ideas ???also my primary chain has about 1/4 inch play if that...i can't figure out where these brass pieces came from ?..the last person in there was an indy a few years ago,,i'm stumped

are those the ones on the outside of the basket,because they are all there ?

2 places Brass rivets come in to play - the hub behind the clutch drum has a clutch disc with rivets -- and 2 the early bike and yours is late BUT anything could have been changed the ( early ) primary chain shoe WAS riveted on with brass

The ones that keep the fiber disk riveted to the hub?

Would be my my guess, had a few come loose over the years.

both of these guys are correct -- check the link --- http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...tud-clutch-hub -- see the brass rivets?? had them wiggle loose -- rattle back and forth till the snapped off

You only have 1/4" play on your primary chain? Pretty tight.

that's what i thought ,my other bike is a 82' FXB sturgis,and i don't have to deal with this crap,,it has a non adjustable belt and i dont have to worry about primary gaskets leaking'just belt breaking
