I didn't think it anything to do with E-start...I believe the Output shaft on the Generator bottom shovel is Shorter...My '68 was anyway...and of course it was e-start only...
^^ The question was...will it fit..the answer is Yes...
But, to make it work properly, you need the correct mainshaft for the Job...and JohnJZJZ nailed it in post number 4
Yeah i hear ya, however not into rebuilding another tranny..... Already have one on kitchen table. So far changed mainshaft, main shifter clutch,main drive gear,low and 2nd geAr , mainshaft. Anyways I should have done my homework. Thanks for help

That is what I would do in your situation...
1965 Panhead - to 1966 / 1969 shovels - same length
1970 to 1984 < some in the very late units are the same but every thing before 1977 is the 1970 up mainshaft
the gear ratios are different FL - FLH - low first 3.0 ratio -- FX - series first gear 2.44
ratio < yes it works - also the front trans sprocket could be a 22 tooth not a 23 the FX series has - all things to cheac out as well as the speedo ratio can and is different in different machines trans driven cable - your might have a front wheel speedo
