That was what I discovered. I have the factory service manual in electronic format so had the wiring diagram printed on 11x17 paper and had it laminated in preparation for hunting down the fault.
I have a continuity tester made from wire and a 12v light bulb with alligator clips that made it a reasonably quick resolution.
So now I have working brake lights regardless of which brake is activated. Definitely feel a bit safer knowing that I won't surprise anyone following me by decelerating quickly without any indication that I'm using my brakes.
