engine numbers

Default engine numbers

1984 fxe shovel engine has the engine NO: stamped on the primary side under front cylinder is this posibble?

you could pull the cam cover off and inside the right side cases in that era, they were stamping the engine number on the vertical wall towards the front, some even had belly numbers if they were a factory replacement under warrantee

My 84 FLH has the abbreviated VIN number stamped on the left side of the case just below the rear cylinder. Came from the factory that way.

Mine is right there on the front of the engine case, right side near the base of the front jug. Abbreviated VIN as well.
