Here is a picture of the old countershaft, a new one came with the Jims kit. I should probably get new bearings, they can't be expensive...
you did not say but it looks like a small bite in the shaft left side top - so yes change the bearings a special tool to install them at the correct depth
i had joined the shovehead forum way back and after I was a long time member and have done for many years answer questions
I was attacked by at least 10 of the we know more then you bunch, so I left - were some of the guys very knowledgeable yes - but its a pissing contest about who thinks they know more then the other guy for the most part, and some of what is bantered around is not true and incorrect - just so you know
Think I ran into that rat pack, haven't been back in since too much dick wagging and some outright bad info flying around.
Nice! So it says "introducing" the 80 engine. And its a low rider. So I assume it's a 1980 ad for the new FSX-80? That's what I have! So here's a question. Looks like the FXS comes with standard forward controls. Can anyone confirm if mine are standard by this pic? One of the mods I want to do is to ditch the drag pipes and get a more stock 2 into 1. But I'm concerned about interference with the controls. I've heard the stock 2 into 1 pipes did interfere with after market controls in the years after mine. Thoughts?

The 80" Motor was available Late '79.. Many '79's are 1200's.
The FXS was Mid Controls, Just like the one Pictured.. Most Big Twins Came Standard with Highway pegs, just like the Ones Pictured... I Personally love that setup.. My Heel is accustomed to that Setup by Now..
Finally, That 2 into one was one Heavy ****... Aesthetically, Staggered Duals... ala Cycle Shack, is a Great Set-up...

The 80" Motor was available Late '79 ... Yep, my 79 FXEF was a "79.5" ... the stock pipe ( a monstrosity ) weighed a ton ... I wish I would have kept it now :>(

As evidenced by the VIN.
I have a Line on One Now...
