That's right Twisted. I feel the same about my Road Glide. These bikes are too heavy to compression start unless you have a convenient hill. Or maybe we're just getting weaker in our old age.

Not really the new bike's are just a crap load heavier, RK's 835 on the kickstand, makes the shovel feel like a dirt bike when I get on her

Yea, might not be as light as a Sporty but at 600b it is a nimble ride...

Have you recently tuned up the motor on your 67 ? If so, you might wanna check the timing again, or try advancing the timing a few degrees.

I tuned the bike a few months ago Lil Rosie. She really has never run better. Except for this occasional starter spin. If the starter engages properly, she fires up immediately.

Did you have the starter problem before you tuned up your bike? If not, advancing your timing a few degrees will be the easiest to trouble shoot your problem. Especially if your 67 has the original outer primary cover and dual exhaust.

I could try advancing the timing a degree or two but the problem is winter is upon us and I won't be able to ride until we get a window of warmer weather. Also, this is just an occasional occurrence. The bike has an aftermarket outer primary courtesy of the PO that has a derby cover so I may be able to change out the Bendix without taking the exhaust and outer primary off. Thanks for the input.

Advancing the timing will not help, if anything could slow the cranking rpm once the starter engages....

from the right side - battery and covers the starter then the starter housing bolted to the inner - left side the outer primary then pull the solenoid then the clutch hub and shell - then the gear and shaft come out = we do it this way as we can grease up all the returning pieces as doing it that way is spins faster and lasts longer
