Interesting thing I came across messing with the front brakes on my 1980 FXS. Every discussion I have about them, and every on line tool to select a front rotor, mentions these narrow SHOWA forks as using 10" discs. But the HD Service Manual actually calls out 11.5" for both front and rear for FX models from 78-84. Oops!
Obviously, I have to now measure my discs to see what they actually are...

OEM front FX rotors are 10" until 83 I believe.
On 84 the first EVOs came out and forks were different, calipers were different and rotors were 11.5"; single disc only as far as I know. Dual disk FX front ends started on 85.
If you have an EVO caliper rotors are 11.5"; shovel caliper 10" rotors

If you will notice most of the specs on that page are for FXST...which had 11.5 rotors....they never should have mixed EVOs and Shovels in the same manual...I have that manual...I never trust it, it has lots of mistakes.

Nope, I wouldn't notice that. That's what I have HDF for!

Damn. I have two printed copies of that manual and a couple of electronic copies. But... I also have a PDF copy of a 1978-1/2 to 1980 service manual. It covers FL/FLH and FX/FXE/FXEF/FXS. And it doesn't mention a disc size for ANY of the models (doesn't even have this same chart in it)!. Looks like a more detailed document than the 78-84 book. Perhaps I should print it out... ugh.
