‘76 FLH Won’t Idle
Take the carb off and check to see if there are any bad gaps inbetween the intake and the jugs. You do this by looking down the inside of the intake with a little inspection mirror and a flashlight. The crack inbetween the intake and jugs should be uniform all the way around.
Now make a plate to cover the intake. Put a shraeder valve in the center of the plate. Put an air hose on there (use the kind truckers use that you don't have to hold) with about 10 psi on it. Spray the intake at the seals and look for bubbles. You may have to jockey the intake around and adjust the band clamp tightness to get it leak free. That could take a few tries. Once it's leak free put the carb on and use some gasket maker in addition to the gasket that goes inbetween the carb and intake. That has to cure for 24 hrs minimum before you start the bike.
You must use a bracket to hold up the carb/air cleaner assembly or it will still leak. Do whatever you have to to make sure the bracket holds everything up in just exactly the position you have it in now.

How long has the bike been sitting? Are the inside of the tanks clean? Did you pull the fuel valve and make sure the filter is clean?
