Default Coating My Jugs

The jugs on my '75 FXE will come off some time in the future to remedy leaks and update the valve train.

They are black now, and nowhere near as pretty as they were when new. What's the best coating to freshen them up?

Any good black enamel paint - One Shot lettering enamel for instance.

agree on stripping and beading with glass

what we use in my shop almost every week is at lowes they see barbeque hi heat paint and primer

the primer is a gray color and is 2000 degrees < might be hot enough

the black or the silver for the early cylinders is 1200 degrees

and we do a baking at 250 for 15 minuets

in 17 we 65 sets i buy it in case lots at a time if your not baking it before don't get gas on it

I don't know about "One Shot" on the jugs ... It's great for lettering and pin striping though.

I used VHT wrinkle ( the wrinkle effect can be from minimal to exaggerated ... follow directions on can ) on my FXEF.

I used the HD Satin Black on my 92 FLHTCU when I had it apart ... Polishing up the exposed fins was fun ... not !
