Any Good Shovelhead Mechanics in Houston TX?
My 20,000 original mile '75 FXE is leaking more oil than I can tolerate from the cylinder bases and up. Given that the gaskets are 42 years old, not a surprise.
So I'm looking at pulling everything down to the cases. And since the cylinders and valve train are going to be pulled, I figure why not upgrade the components for a bit more spunk and reliability. So have an EV-27 cam and the Velva-Touch setup to support it on hand. And a set of Sorensen heads on order.
I've rebuilt car and motorcycle engines in the past, but never a shovel motor. Were it not for the cam I would probably do the work myself, but the cam swap is outside my comfort zone.
Anyone know of a good, reputable shovel head mechanic in the Houston area? Preferable west side near Katy?
