Electrical system dies
'81 Low Rider Shovel. Sometimes when I press the start button the breaker on the positive terminal of the battery trips. It may do it numerous times or not at all. Sometimes while riding down the road the electrical system dies and kills the engine. Sometimes multiple times and sometimes not all day. Obviously there is an intermittent short somewhere. The battery and the 30 amp breaker on the + terminal are new. Is there a known problem with a component that would cause this or should I just start chasing wires?

Yup, brother had an 81 that drove us crazy for a few days going to Sturgis one year randomly cutting out and dying. Bypassed the main breaker and no more problems.

its actually helpful to put that tid bit into the intro of the post so not wasting time with guesses
