worth it in the day a Stock Sportster would Just bump into the 12's (BTW, that 12 was a National Record in the Late '80's to early '90's)

I agree and Im building an OHV conversion on a big twin flat head right now (Koslow type U engine) and I know my money is better spent just buying an S&S 93" engine before even putting pen to paper but its fun, like you said. Can't wait to be not blown away and underwhelmed by the performance. Things we know today disproves a lot of what we thought was good back then though and that direct line is really just the desire to hot rod, we just know a lot more now thanks to computer simulation, modelling and accurate testing methods rather than the butt-o-meter after taking a die grinder to some ports.
