Default FXE gauge bracket question

I have a '77 fxe with the handlebar mounted dual gauge set up and I'd like to mount them differently so I can use different risers/ bars. I've seen advertised 2 other types of gauge brackets--one is a one piece bracket that takes both gauges and I think it bolts to the top fork tube caps. The other is a 2-peice design which again seem to bolt onto the fork caps. Does anyone know if either or both of these brackets would fit properly on my bike?

If yer fork caps are the "extended" ones with a Small bolt down into them... the Gauges that bolt to the Top of the tubes will be a Welcome Change... BTDT
BTW the Caps are interchangeable... long as for 35mm Tubes..

Thanks, Racepres. I do have the tall fork tube caps on my front end. Do you know if I can use the same gauges as are mounted on handlebar bracket?

Yes... they can either be put into the individual gauge mounts that bolt to the Caps, or Some COB's around in the "day" , would simply hacksaw the original mount in two and bend it a bit to sit on the Caps...
I like the Mini Gauges personally when mounted to the Caps...But.. Whatever ya do, I think it is better looking than the Dual Gauges perched on top of thee Handlebar Mount...
For originality... those gauges mounted into the Individual mounts [I'll get a Part number if ya need it] is the Best..
Edit; Part number 92116-74

Racepres--one other question: do you know if the later model gauges with the black plastic bodies will work on my '77? I think that the part # is 92069-81. I see them listed for that year Sportster but will they work properly on a Superglide? I have the Sportster front end on the bike with the front wheel speedometer drive. Thanks again.

LOL
I guess those are the [jap] gauges I was talking about!! I have them on a '75 Sportster, a '77 Sportster, and they came on my '82 FXR
The Only difference in the front ends between Sporty and SuperGlide is the Triple tree [specifically the Stem] untill about '79 when they became Exactly the Same..
Don't worry over it.. The speedometer as well as the Drive are interchangeable..

Note that the tach on a Sporty [Ironhead anyway] is mechanical, while the Tach on a Superglide is Electric..
Good luck... I believe you'll be OK...

I've done more research on this and found that the Jap tachometer ( with the black plastic cover) has 4 wires--white, red, orange, and pink. Do the pink and orange wires go to the coil and ignition as they do on my stock FXE gauges? Is the white wire the ground wire? Finally, will the cable on my FXE speedo fit the Jap speedo?
