Bike is starting again but still have to push button a few times for it to turn over. And sounds pretty rough while cranking. Also whining and buzzing sounds.
All that the guys have posted prior,
+ from what you just stated puts me in mind of the brushes worn out to the point of limited contact on the armature (Starter motor),

My starter sounded fine before changing solenoid. How ever voltage drop dose sound more like my i.
Kind of funny that after changing my solenoid is started making funny sounds while turning over. the buzzing and humming sounds I can understand being voltage drop and just not having enough power to kick it over. I'm just worried about the clunking sound coming out of my starter now.
I did a quick check on wires at battery and at solenoid. The solenoid is old and cheap. Lol I'm just kind of lost because the starter gear kicks out and seems to be fine. just not enough power to turn engine over. Wondering by chance if the starter it's self could be to weak.
on the 2013 FXD wiring diagram, the BCM controls the voltage going to the starter, The would only work if all the inputs are meet with the correct signals to allow it to start. So this makes it harder to diagnose. But the right handle bar switch uses CAN signal to send to the bCm to then send to starter ( the "relay" is in the BCM). Best way forward is to check the bam connections and check the handle bar connections. The neutral switch once showing on the dash indicates that system should be ok. Once you getting fuel prime, the bank angle and all other voltages are good. So focus on the BCM and handlebar connections.

now seeing this. This is a new development. Now sounds like starter /solenoid
