racepres, actually I am referring to the double hole tab utilized for the "Highway Footrest".
1975 FXE models clearly still have the tabs
It is lacking on my 1978-1/2 FXE
It is also missing in the green 1977 FXE I posted a pic of.
And while clearly not definitvie the Parts Manual only shows the "Highway Footrests" available for 77+ FXS, FXS-80, FXB,and FXSB models. So somewhere along the way the tab was taken off for at least a couple years I believe.
Yes... I knew about that one... Didn't remember When!!! Would have Guessed 1977 as that is the debut of the FXS...but, I believe they removed the single hole tab for the Board, earlier... I thought!! {the one farther back that a stud went into ..

Me also... IMO the '74 and '75's had the best Graphics!!!!
You might be surprised how many of those graphics had the "AMF" picked/rubbed, off of them!!! Now actually Sought after...
Very Much like the "new wave HD types" hate the LTR stuff to the point they discard the original patent date eagles right along with them...
I save them... assuming that too will come Full circle... Hell.... look at the current desireability of the FXR!!!!!! For Inspiration!!!

I like it a lot. My first HD was a 78 1/2 FXE Super Glide. It was 3 months old when I bought it. PO had pull backs and a king/queen seat on it. First thing I did was swap the exhaust and the ham can air cleaner. Wish i had it now. Terrible pic but camera quality then wasn't up to Iphone standards yet, at least the ones we carried around lol...

Thanks for sharing...interesting the AMF era. Nice find...and love the paint and graphics too.
I believe Harley was bought by AMF in 1969 to avoid going bankrupt. Willie G and some investors bought back Harley from AMF in 1981. My 1980 had the AMF on the tank. Just curious why earlier years had no identity to AMF on the bike?
