Default Inner Primary question

Can anyone tell me if the two washers that go behind the inner primary cover and the front tranny mounts are of a specific size? The primary didn't have any there and in the manual it says to make sure to retain those two washers.
Thanks

Sorry, it's a 1983 flh police bike, it has an aluminum inner primary cover, 4 speed. I have not found any part number. Manual says "the two washers that fall off when you remove the inner primary belong on the two transmission to primary cover studs."

ok I get it now - the washers they refer too are inside and under the nuts on the studs that attach the back of the inner primary to the transmission

I have always used nylock nuts not regular nuts they come with - to hold the 4 in place - and I use flat or lock washers - then in the front you also have 4 bolts and the inside bolts behind the alternator drum have a safety wire run between them or a lock tab to bend over

Get yourself a “Spare Parts” manual. It is very helpful and gives you part numbers. The parts you are referring to are numbers 14 & 15.

Oops, I was looking up the parts & uploading the pictures when he posted it is an FLH. Should be similar to the FX ?

Mike a similar question just came up in another thread in the Shovel section. There are no washers that go on the transmission studs behind the inner primary.

The inner primary goes against the transmission case and should be flat against it. Once it is mounted the flat washers go on the studs and then you install the ny-loc nuts. The flat washers are #14 in Johns pics of the primary chain housing he posted.

And yes the FX inner primary is "basically" the same as the FLH inner primary (mid-control parts being the primary difference).
