I've heard that there were left-over shovelheads that were designated as 85's, and most (if not all) were used to fill police orders.
That being said, a left-over designated as an 85 is nothing like a new design 85 frame. The pogo will definitely NOT work on the new for 1985 frame.

I bought my first bike from Walksler when he was still in Marion IL. I went through his packed museum back then, it was behind his dealership, while waiting on paper work. It was 2000. Wanted a black Heritage Softail. Back then it was hard to find a bike on a showroom that was what you wanted. Lots of smaller dealers back then. I found a red metallic one in Indiana, but really wanted a black one. They had one coming in and would take $1000 non refund deposit on it. I jumped on it.
