I hope that when I have both pieces in my hands I can figure out how to transfer the spacer from one to the other. I read that it can be done.

I got the one with the right ratio, but the spacers are different and the new housing doesn't have the raised boss like the old. So I figure take both apart and swap the gears and reassemble. I got the circlip off and the tiny set screw out, but that's as far as I can go. Anyone remember how it comes apart? Thanks, Joe

When I tried to get a better drive for my 77 fxe the spacer that came with the drive was narrower than the one I had on the bike so what I did was I went out and purchased new spacers to match the old one, I didn't take nothing apart or cut nothing I just adapted it and it work perfect..
Sorry if it's not much help..

I dug into it and made it happen, not all that difficult, once I put on my reading glasses, haha

I started a new thread for future reference:
