I;m installing new hydraulic lifters in my 76 shovel 84in. the lifters are new do I still turn them down 24 flats. Looking in the manual doesn't tell me much; or would solids be the way to go??? thanks

I believe so. Make sure to soak in oil and are primed.

Flat's depend on whose pushrods you are using unless the lifters come with specific instructions otherwise.

urns - 18 the thread determines the amount of turns down - 18 24 32 48 threads per inch all have different adjustments - picture up the push rods you now have so we can see if they are stock

S&S had sold shovel copys of oem lifters dont know for sure they still do

I have used the china ones from v twin and so far they have held up in bikes being ridden 3 or 4 years

the v twin ones use a peddle valve like a evo or two cam lifter and are one piece and fit with oem push rods

Vulcan makes a decent set but you have to use their lifter blocks, won't fit OEM

but they might have drilled the cross holes to the bottom to open the drains to rid the tubes of excess oil - we 8/32 those and drill the centers of the socket head screws to go back to keeping the oil in the block for the hyd lifters
