Default LED's on a 1971

So the 71 I'm working on has only rear signal lights (which are useless because you can't see them) and here on Long Island it's pretty congested and most are distracted drivers at best. So I'm uncomfortable riding it without signal lights (front and rear) and I'm looking at some LED's to added to it. On my 2009 I had to add a "module" so the signal lights wouldn't rapid fire when engaged so I'm wondering if that's true on this bike as well. On my classic car I had to just change the flasher to convert to LED's so it was no big deal. Anyone add LED's to theirs? And if so, any issues?

Thanks,
Steve

On a 71' if you only have rears now, change them to LED and see what happens.
They won't rapid flash, but they might not flash at all. In which case you'd add a load equalizer to
let the signal relay see a heavier load too operate.

I wired an automotive flasher on my chopper that worked with LEDs. My 79 doesn't have turn signals so I don't know what kind of flasher you have on your 71, but I'd use an LED flasher if you can wire it in.

The bike is real finicky as to the type of flasher it uses....changed my emergency flasher 3x to get one that would work properly. Not sure if any damage to the electrical system would occur with less load,...a question for the more experienced with these older bikes. However, logically I would use a LED flasher or a load equalizer as suggested. On my 2011, I used a LED RBT taillight and a RBT module on my saddlebag LED single element ilghts and did not need a load equalizer since I retained the front stock turn signals. The RBT module had the rapid flasher when braking but did not use that feature since it kept flashing when in stop and go traffic.

Thanks for the help! I looked up "load equalizer" and they range in price from $20 to over $80.... I'll look closer into which one I may potentially need. Think I'll add the lights and see what happens first.

They make LED load equalizer flashers that plug right into where the ols style flasher was...
